Does one age group stand out to you as being the most likely to benefit from playing taiko? Why or why not? |
50-60 yrs. achievable exercise, renews social connections that might have lessened during parenthood, often up for a new challenge, might have time and money to pursue it, might tap into existing skills like dance, martial arts, music |
No. Taiko is beneficial to all ages – possibly in different ways to different age demographics, but beneficial to all equally, I’d say. |
60s. Keeps them moving their bodies and minds |
I think everybody wil benefit because it gives you so much energy and good vibes |

seniors, if they never played before. I think it really helps everyone feel more connected to their bodies. |
no Taiko is for all ages |
Taiko is for all ages. |
No, I don’t think there is an age limit to playing Taiko. You have to have some interest in it. |

At any age you ll benefit. That s the good thing… no matter what age, race, colour or religion, everbody is welcome and respected. That s also what Taiko teaches. |

No I think it can be important for everybody, and of course every age group will learn and develop themselves according to their age or where they are mentally, physically at that moment. |
no, I think everyone can benefit. |
No one group. As Tanaka Sensei says “Taiko is for everyone.” |
I believe all age groups are likely to get multiple benefits from engaging |
Nope, all age groups benefit. From 4 to 74, Taiko makes them all happier and healthier |
All age groups could benefit |
Any age group can benefit |
In our group it’s mostly older people and only a small handful of teenagers and some kids. I am one of the few in the middle. I think all age groups benefit. Taiko is so multifaceted and complex that there is always somewhere to expand. The young ones learn to practice their attention muscles and discipline, following rules and being a team member, for angry teens there’s energy they have that can be beautifully transmuted through taiko(who can stay mad long playing taiko?) and for the rest of us it rebalances, tunes, keeps in a healthy shape for the mind, the body and soul. |
No, not really. I see taiko Is something that all ages could play and benefit from. The groups that would benefit the most I believe are the ones who would have access to it for the longest time. I get really upset when I see community initiatives and cultural initiatives aimed at specific groups fold it lose funding after a short time and the benefits that long-term access could offer get lost. |
All age groups can benefit from Taiko. But attaining the most benefit is an individual responsibility. |
No. Just as there are so many different things that make it appealing to watch or do, I think there are many different benefits for each age group. |
Teenage girls and young women can find their power through taiko. Some teenage groups we give intro classes to, the girls are so timid that you can barely hear them say their name when asked. I want to give them the power of taiko so they can “find their voice” and be heard in life. |
I have seen people from many walks of life and age groups find benefit to taiko. I have seen it offered as a way to engage students, a way for parents and children to share a hobby between them, or as a fitness hobby for older age groups. I think this depends a lot on the teacher and students to shape what this exactly looks like, but it seems to be pretty versitile. |

Everyone is. I work with teenagers the most, so that is the group I feel the benefits the most. Having a place outside of school with friends, and fun, and hard work is so strong in building a young one´s character. |

Nothing to remark |
Honestly, I think older individuals are surprisingly adept at taiko! I think it keeps them fit and vital. I mean, Kenny Endo, one of my teachers, is amazingly sharp after 40 years of playing! |
No – taiko is beneficial to all who play! |
I think all age groups can benefit from taiko in the same way. |

All age groups. It gets people moving. |
Seniors might benefit the most by having a social activity as well as an activity requiring hand coordination and memory exercises. |

Not one specific ages just age groups which I will explain in the next question. |
There are different benefit for one age group and different age group. I think this has to be matched with goals. Different age for sure has greater challenges |
No, I think anyone can benefit. |
