I used this for the odaiko solo in Narushima (Katsuji Kondo) for years (or a version of it – every time I played it, it was a little different). But it is a high energy, short piece full of excitement.
In 2026 we are using it as a group solo in the same song, and I have taught it twice to beginning students in six-week taiko courses.
Here is the youtube playlist, which includes a teaching demonstration, a group of new students playing it, its debut, and its debut with the kucheshouka written in.
And here is the kucheshouka written out.
Coming is a pdf of the western notation.
