What to expect

Wear comfortable clothing and bring water. If you have any concerns, let us know.

The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly.

We will breathe in, do a short warm-up and introductions.

Drum sticks or bachi, as they are called in Japanese, are provided to use. You can also purchase some if you want to keep your own. If you use your own, please no oak and please keep them sanded.

We learn basic taiko form, and you will get lots of tips to help with your form and use of your energy.

We have fun together hitting the drum together using different rhythms.

We learn songs together and feel the power of drumming together, taiko style.

Please only sign up if you really are coming, and if something comes up, please give me a few hours notice to help me with drumsportation (it’s a real deal with taiko, lol).

Thank you for your support and consideration!

Most big drums classes are in St. Paul, Minnesota on University Avenue. We currently use the Murray Middle School during the school year.
