Murasaki Swing

Here is the folder with the western notation PDF, a kucheschouka PDF, audio files, and more. This song has a shime part, two chu parts, and an odaiko part, and there are resources for all of the parts. This is the premier of the song with Taiko Shine and Taikollaborative.

There also is a simpler version for beginning students that I use in my introductory six-week class. This is an accessible song, but D is tricky, and even C with the accented dokos with the swing beat can be difficult for brand new students.

Murasaki Swing was inspired by Jonathan Kirby’s practice song, “Shouts, Kas, and 3 Big Beats.”
